Description
Elaeagnus angustifolia L. (russian-olive), image shows light colored tree form, note this plant is considered a noxious weed in certain areas of the U.S., small tree (or sometimes a large shrub) of oval to rounded outline often quite open and of light texture, growth rate is medium to fast, height gets to 12-15' tall and wide (sometimes up to 40'), leaves are silver-green to gray-green in summer, fruits are drupe-like achenes covered by a fleshy perianth 1/2" yellow to red edible, used in Asia to flavor sherbet
