This catalog is a listing of every living plan for which collections records are kept, over 100,000 plants representing 3,662 taxa (685 herbaceous and 2,977 woody). It represents an accumulation of plant information dating back to the founding of the Arboretum in 1922.
This edition contains listings for herbaceous plants that are cultivated in several gardens. These plants have been included to better serve our visitors and staff who use our collections. Areas with large numbers of herbaceous plantings listed in this catalog include the Visitor Center, Ground Cover Garden, and Thornhill. Herbaceous plantings are accessioned as being from a variety of commercial sources. The accession year reflects the date that the first planting was made at that site. Herbaceous plants form wild collected sources of value to the Arboretum are listed with the same detailed information that is listed for our woody plants.
This catalog represents the status of the plant collections as of the date of its printing.
