The George Ware papers contain seven series: The Morton Arboretum, Publications, Outside Organizations, Conferences and Presentations, Notes and Research, Awards and Nominations, and Audio/Visual Materials.

The Morton Arboretum series contains seven subseries, with materials ranging from budget proposals to Arboretum publications and staff research.The correspondence sub-series includes correspondence to and from George Ware, as well as correspondence relating to other staff members of The Morton Arboretum.

The Publications series includes publications written by George Ware, and publications written by others. Some of the publications were written by other Arboretum staff members, and some were written by Dr. Ware’s colleagues in the field.

The Outside Organizations series focuses largely on the Open Lands Project and organizations related to DuPage County. Other organizations included are the Illinois Arborist Association, Iowa State University, and Chicagoland Grows, Inc.

The Conferences and Presentations series includes program schedules and publications of conferences that Dr. Ware attended, as well as advertisements for presentations he gave. Also included in this series is a folder that includes a list of Dr. Ware’s professional involvement, which Dr. Ware created himself.

The Notes and Research series contains four folders relating to Crabapple Lake storm management, and several folders of assorted handwritten notes.

The Awards and Nominations series includes materials relating to Dr. Ware’s nominations for professional awards. Letters of support for Dr. Ware written by colleagues are also included.

The Audio/Visual series includes cassette recordings of the 1993 International Society of Arboriculture Annual Conference. Also included are aerial photographs of The Morton Arboretum, a photograph of an American Elm, and a photograph of the Chancellor’s Elm on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
