The bulk of this material was created by Floyd Swink during the course of his business as an employee of The Morton Arboretum. It was brought from his office into the library's custody (possibly by Michael Stieber) during the year 2000.

Scope and content

The personal papers of Floyd Swink (1921-2000) including drafts and editing notes for publications, plant collecting and sighting notes, and records from his time as a student and staff member at the University of Illinois Chicago and The Morton Arboretum.

The material is arranged into six series by record type: series 1: Administrative and collections records of The Morton Arboretum; series 2: Plant surveying and collecting records; series 3: Miscellaneous plant lists and checklists; series 4: University of Illinois related papers; series 5: Plants of the Chicago Region development; and series 6: Personal interests and miscellaneous material.
