History
The Woodland Trail is a 0.6 mile loop accessible from the Big Rock Visitor Station on The Morton Arboretum's East Side. It opened in 1999, replacing the Forest Trail, which had been decommissioned due to deterioration and erosion. Along the gently sloping trail, hikers will see several types of trees native to Illinois. The most common trees on the trail are northern red oak, sugar maple, white oak, and hop-hornbeam.
