To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Arbor Day, approximately 250 people representing 52 organizations planted a grove of 100 trees on April 22, 1972. This area, which is located on the Arboretum's East Side along the base of the tollway berm south of Frost Hill, was named Centennial Grove.
