Letter from E. L. Kammerer responding to an inquiry from Edward Schalck of Halsted Road Nurseries regarding Scotch Pine. Mr. Kammerer writes that the most important factor in developing a horizontal growth pattern in Scotch Pines is time. He also notes that they don't recommend typically Pinus sylvestris because of its susceptibility to European Pine Shoot Moth, even the Riga Scotch Pine, which is supposed to be more resistant.
