Letter from Martin T. Norpell, D.D.S. to Sterling Morton. Also a handwritten comment from Morton to Clarence E. Godshalk. Norpell is representing the Downers Grove Hospital Association. With a growing community and neighboring hospitals in Hinsdale, LaGrange and Naperville often full, the community is working to establish a local hospital not connected to any religious, political or similar groups. As a large landowner with local connections, he is asking Sterling Morton to donate "a tract of land to be used for this purpose." Such donation would be tax deductible and suitable recognition would be made for the Mortons. This is sorely needed, would enhance the community. It is being put forth by responsible local citizens. Can we meet to discuss this more?

In Morton's handwritten response to Clarence, he mentions that "his" hospitals are in Santa Barbara and Presbyterian St. Luke in Chicago. If the project goes through he "might suggest a modest contribution by the Morton Fund -- and I mean really modest."
