Ricinus communis 'Crimson Spire', fruit. Ricinus communis 'Crimson Spire' (castor bean, castor oil plant) has clusters of bright red, spiny, seed capsules along the bright red flower spike. Small, creamy, male flowers are visible below the seed capsules. Red pin cushion flowers are among the seed capsules on the top flower spike. The leaves are large, palmate with red veins.
