The article discusses a study which determined if a Paclobutrazol (PBZ) soil drench treatment could manipulate apple scab and cytospora canker when applied to host trees. Beginning in August 2002, terminal twig growth and leaf area measurements were recorded annually. Apple scab severity was suppressed for a couple of years by all applied rates of PBZ. Cytospora canker disease development was prevented by PBZ applied at label rate and twice label rate.
