Ostrya virginiana (Mill.) K. Koch (ironwood), image shows branch with leaves in yellow-gold fall color, leaves are alternate simple oval-lanceolate 2-5" long by half as wide acuminate rounded or heart-shaped dark green and hairy on midrib and between veins above paler and more pubescent beneath sharply and doubly serrate veins forking at ends, petiole is 1/4" long pubescent, fall color is yellow-gold
