Carya illinoinensis (Wang.) K. Koch (pecan), image shows growth habit of a medium-large pecan tree, can get to 70-100' tall with a 40-75' spread, largest of the hickories, tall and straight with a uniform symmetrical broadly oval crown, has and extremely long taproot, bark is brown-black and with age becomes somewhat scaly, does not bear an abundance of nuts in the Midwest as those in states such as Georgia where it is an important cash crop.
