Loudon (shellbark hickory), image shows branches, leaves are alternate pinnately compound 10-24" long leaflets (7, rarely 5-9) are 4-10" long oblong-lanceolate acuminate serrate dark yellow-green pubescent beneath, petiolule and rachis are pubescent or glabrous, often leaves persist during winter
