Sassafras albidum (Nutt.) Nees (sassafras), image shows yellow-orange leaves, leaves are alternate simple ovate to elliptic 3-7" long by 2-4" wide acutish or obtuse cuneate at base bright to medium green above glabrous and glaucous beneath entire mitten-shaped or 3-lobed, mittens occur in both left and right hands, petiole is 0.5-1.5" long, fall color is shades of yellow to deep orange to scarlet and purple
