Lilium michiganense Farw. (Michigan lily), prairie wildflower, image shows closeup of orange colored spotted flowers, stout erect perennial to 8' tall, principal leaves are in whorls of 5-20 each with the upper leaves sometimes alternate, leaves are lanceolate tapering to both ends coarse or rough rough on the margin and midvein beneath 7" long by 1.2" wide, flowers are terminal usually 3-25 nodding from long ascending or erect stalks, tepals to 3.6" long are lance-shaped strongly recurved orange to red heavily spotted with purple, anthers to 0.6" long well separated on long divergent filaments, flower buds are 3-anglled, grows in both moist open woods and wet prairies
