Maclura pomifera (Raf.) C. K. Schneid. (Osage-orange), fruit is a large (4-6" diameter) globose syncarp of drupes covered with a mamillate rind yellow-green, becoming effective in Sept. and lethal in Oct. if one is hit on the head by one of these falling cannon-balls
