Myrica pensylvanica Loisel. (bayberry), leaves are alternate simple deciduous (mostly in the North) to semi-evergreen obovate to oblong-obovate or oblong 1.5-4.0" long by 0.5-1.5" wide obtuse or acutish cuneate shallowly toothed toward apex or entire lustrous dark green and pubescent above and pubescent beneath resin-dotted aromatic when bruised, petiole is short
