Picea glauca (Moench) Voss (white spruce), cones are cylindric blunt 1 to 2.5" long by 1/2 to 3/4" wide greem initially but turning pale brown when ripe, leaves are persistent for several years, crowded on the upper side of the stem pale green or dull blue-green 1/2 to 3/4" long incurved ending in an acute or roundish horny point, quadrangular in cross-section 2-5 bands of stomata on each surface
