Picea orientalis (L.) Link (Oriental spruce), leaves are very short 1/4 to 1/2" long 4-sided lustrous dark green blunt or rounded apex quadrangular in cross-section with 1-4 lines of stomata on each surface, these are the shortest needles of the picea species arranged at and above the horizontal plane upper appressed and hiding the stem
