Pinus flexilis James (limber pine), evergreen coniferous species of tree that grows to mature heights of 40 to 50 feet tall, with a straight to contorted trunk 24 to 36 inches in diameter conic crown that becomes rounded with age, growth form may be substantially altered near timberline (krummholz form occurs) or on very dry sites.
