Caltha palustris L. (yellow marsh marigold), woodland (marsh) wildflower, poisonous perennial 8-24" tall with hollow stems that are branched above, basal leaves have long stalks and glossy rounded blades 2-6" wide, stem leaves are similar but much smaller with short stalks, flowers are 0.6-1.6" wide without petals but have 5-9 shiny bright yellow sepals and numerous stamens, these plants are rare but can be found in certain wet woods and meadows
