(Japanese maple), species tends toward a rounded to broad-rounded character often with the branches assuming a layed effect similar to Flowering Dogwood, form can be a single-stemmed tree or multi-stemmed shrub, size is variable but species is 15-25' in height with spread equal to or greater than height, growth rate is slow, fall color is usually red
