(Japanese yew), leaves are short-stalked mostly not distinctly 2-ranked upright and irregularly V-shaped straight or slightly curved slightly leathery apex rather abruptly sharp-pointed 0.5-1.0" long by 0.08-0.12" wide dull to dark lustrous green above paler beneath with 2 yellowish green bands
