Taxus cuspidata Sieb. & Zucc. (Japanese yew), crown erect or flattened broad or narrow of irregular habit and spreading or upright-spreading branches, size is 10-40' high (40-50' in the wild) with an equal or greater spread, usually smaller depending on cultivar, leaves are short-stalked mostly not distinctly 2-ranked upright and irregularly V-shaped straight or slightly curved slightly leathery apex rather abruptly sharp-pointed 0.5-1.0" long by 0.08-0.12" wide dull to dark lustrous green above paler beneath with 2 yellowish green bands
