Trillium grandiflorum (Michx.) Salisb. (great white trillium), woodland wildflower, erect perennial 8-16" tall that arises from a stout rhizome, leaves (3) are green whorled sessile broadly ovate or rhombic, flower is borne on a more or less erect stalk 2-3" long, petals are white turning pink with age ascending from the tube-like base and widely spreading at the tip mostly elliptic 1.6-3.0" long, stamens 0.6-1.0" long have noticeable yellow anthers that are readily visible within the floral tube
