Parthenocissus quinquefolia (L.) Planch. (virginia creeper, also called woodbine), deciduous vine with tendrils which have 5-8 branches each ending in adhesive-like tips, has the ability to literally cement itself to the wall and therefore needs no support, good on trees but will also creep along the ground, secretes calcium carbonate with serves as a cement, gets to 30-50' in length but the structure upon which it climbs is the limiting factor, fairly fast growing (6-10' and more in a single season), first of all woody plants to turn color in fall usually a purplish red to crimson-red which becomes quite noticeable in tall treetops
