1946/02/05: C. E. Godshalk to Jean Cudahy (3.85814)
Date: February 5 1946Creator: Godshalk, Clarence E.
Type: Document
Description:Letter from C. E. Godshalk to Jean Cudahy saying Monday night's class on poultry was well-attended. Mr. Hoyt answered questions on commercial chicken and turkey raising. Godshalk answered the questions on having a small family flock and ducks. Mrs. Westover answered the questions on guinea hens and geese, and Mr. Geisler answered questions on pigeons. Next week, the topic will be soils, fertilizers, etc. He is enclosing the corrected reports for October, November, and December. It seems to him that they are now complete and easy to understand. He has been unable to get Mr. Steinbrecher to come to the Arboretum and lay out the Arboretum in hundred foot sections. Godshalk was able to purchase a surveying instrument through the War Assets Corporation, so they can do the work themselves. The Arboretum's 1938 green Ford is no longer safe. Godshalk would like to have Walter, Lowell, Mr. Nordine, Mrs. Watts, and Gust use Goshalk's car, and he would purchase a new one for himself. He would like Mrs. Cudahy's assurance that if the car purchase puts him over budget, the difference will be covered from her chairman's fund. Mrs. Watts started a class for boy scouts, and over 50 attended. Mr. Seymour Levy, who bands birds at the Arboretum, told Godshalk that a chickadee banded at the Arboretum was trapped in Blue Island, Illinois. Things are going well, and the weather is mild. The hog sale is tomorrow; he will send Mr. Cudahy a marked catalog.
