(Part 1) and the field seminar "Spring Nature Photography in the Southern Appalachians." The judging for the 1987 Illinois Landscape Architecture Award was held at the Arboretum. The DuPage Environmental Awareness Center (DEAC) was opened to raise environmental awareness in the DuPage County region. Dr. David E. Davis, a noted mammalogist retired after a distinguished career, made a gift to the Arboretum for an endowed research chair, the Emily Rodgers Davis Chair, to accomplish research in plant-animal inter-relationships within the Arboretum and other areas of geographic interest to us.
