1952/05/07: C. E. Godshalk to Sterling Morton (3.84461)
Date: May 7 1952Creator: Godshalk, Clarence E.
Type: Document
Description:Letter from C. E. Godshalk to Sterling Morton regarding Henrietta Riedy's letter to Morton about the high school issue in Lisle. Godshalk spoke to Walter Eickhorst of the Arboretum's staff about the issue since he is on the school board. Lisle students would still go to Downers Grove and Naperville high schools as they do now, but these school districts would have the power to assess tax on the portions of Lisle annexed to their school districts. Godshalk and Eickhorst don't believe there is enough valuation in Lisle to maintain their own high school. He is amused that Henrietta Riedy should write Morton since the Riedys have blocked most efforts to improve Lisle. He enclosed a Public Service Company Bulletin which deals with the Arboretum.
