Date: September 18 1951Creator: Berens, H. A.
Type: Document
Description:Letter from H. A. Berens (President, DuPage County Historical Society) to Jean Morton Cudahy telling her that the board of directors of the DuPage County Historical Society passed a resolution directing the secretary and the president to express their gratitude to her and the Arboretum's directors for the hospitality extended to them on June 17 when they held their summer meeting at Thornhill. They regretted Mrs. Cudahy's inability to attend the meeting. He proposed a plan to honor three generations of the Morton family with the cooperation of the Chicago Historical Society, the Illinois State Historical Society, State and County governments, and the Department of Agriculture. Mr. Angle thought the Chicago Historical Society would gladly participate. Mr. Godshalk also seemed willing to cooperate. Berens asks for Mrs. Cudahy's approval of their plan. It would involve no work on the parts of Mrs. Cudahy or her brother, other than attending the meeting. A planning committee would include Mr. Angle, Mr. Godshalk, a representative of the Illinois State Historical Society, a member of the DuPage County Historical Society, along with others they may choose to invite. The DuPage County Historical Society presented a honorary life membership to her friend Philip R. Clarke of Hinsdale.
