(swamp cottonwood), large tree 50-100' tall at maturity forming a single trunk 18-36" across and an ovoid to oblong crown that becomes relatively open with age, trunk bark on a mature tree is light to medium gray and coarsely furrowed, bark of branches and twigs is gray and more smooth while young shoots are light green and densely short-pubescent, terminal buds of winter branches are brown and slightly resinous, alternate deciduous leaves are 4-6" long by 3-4" across

Description:Nuphar advena (Aiton) W. T. Aiton (yellow pond-lily), aquatic wildflower, stalked leaves that mostly float on the water although the leaves can also be totally submerged or emerge above the water, leaves in bud are curled like a scroll, leaves are broad oval 10" long by 7" wide with U-shaped notches where the stalk is attached, leaf stalks are round or oval, flowers grow to about 2" wide and are deep yellow growing above the water on individual stalks usually having 6 upright rounded sepals marked with combinations of red and green and yellow along with many small yellow petals and numerous flattened yellow stamens surrounding a yellowish disk-like stigma which are marked with lines like the spokes on a wheel

(Pennsylvania pellitory), generally considered a (native) urban weed popping up in disturbed soil along the sides of buildings, woods and thickets, and gardens, flowers are tiny indistinct compactly clustered in the mid and upper leaf axils surrounded by a leafy bract, male and female flowers are separate, bract lobes are narrow with pointed tips and slightly hairy, leaves are thin 1-3" long by 1/2" wide mostly lance-shaped with a blunt or pointed tip toothless sparsely hairy on a stalk up to 1" long alternately attached with 3 distinct veins coming from the base, stems are weak and erect to reclining sparsely hairy sometimes branched but typically not
