Description:Letter from C. E. Godshalk to Sterling Morton sharing information about ticketing systems for the new control houses. The price of the tickets needs to be set by Morton and the trustees. The Arboretum will staff the control houses with men from the Burns Agency. The stacks have been taken out in the stackroom at Thornhill and are being install above the laboratory at the Arboretum Center. The books are ready to go to Arbor Lodge and should be sent next week. The old hog house at South Farm is being torn down for additional nursery planting space. The work on converting the old cookhouse into four apartments is progressing well. The rest of the men are removing undesirable trees. He is still enthusiastic about the trucksters. Winter classes are going well, and the new colored map will be ready by spring. Mr. Swink, with a bird group, discovered a great horned owl using an abandoned hawk's nest at the Arboretum.

Description:Letter from C. E. Godshalk to Sterling Morton stating they are moving pines and Douglas fir to their new locations on the settling basin hills. He updates him on the progress being made on installing the cyclone fence. The new entry-way has been installed at Thornhill, replacing the revolving door. They are finishing up the control houses, and Godshalk plans to use them pass out material to visitors. Two men are widening the paths and ensuring the bridges are in repair and will accommodate a Cushman. They will remove the plants that will not fit in the new entrance garden, and he will send Morton sketches of the entrance garden for him to study. Godshalk will soon send the books to Arbor Lodge. Arnie has been working on the apartments, but his best helper is out due to surgery for throat cancer.

He also shares his plan for repairing the Lake Marmo bridge. Mr. Swink has been hired and will work under the direction of May Watts. The plan is for him to take over her duties when she retires if everything works out. The work on Lake Marmo and the settling basin is almost complete. The Arboretum will get about $17,000.00 for the fill from Meadow Lake in addition to the beautiful lake. They are working to make their entrances beautiful. He responds to Morton's request about leveling the fountain.
