1962/01/21: Suzette Morton Zurcher to E. L. Kammerer (3.85884)
Date: January 21 1962Creator: Davidson, Suzette Morton
Type: Document
Description:Letter from Suzette M. Zurcher to E.L. Kammerer enclosing a check to start a fund for the purchase of rare botanical books she plans to give to the Arboretum in memory of her father. She would like this fund kept separate from other library expenditures. Mr. Button will bill the Arboretum directly for the 3 books she brought out last week. She's ordered two books, [Chisius] and Mattioli, from Goldschmidt in London. These should be charged to the S. M rare book fund. She is planning to design two book plates, one for general use and one for this memorial collection.
She asked him to tell Clarence she had to give up her projected trip east due to back issues.

1962/01/26: E. L. Kammerer to Suzette Morton Zurcher (3.85885)
Date: January 26 1962Creator: Kammerer, E. Lowell
Type: Document
Description:Letter from E. L. Kammerer to Mrs. Zurcher thanking her for the very generous check she sent to be used to establish a special fund to purchase rare botanical books in memory of her father. It has been turned over to Mr. Jones for safekeeping. Kammerer will personally see that this account is kept separate from other library expenditures. It will be wonderful to be able to purchase books beyond the library's means using this fund. He likes the idea of a special book plate for the collection. They were sorry to hear that her trip east needed to be postponed and hope her back is improving.

1962/02/13: C. E. Godshalk to Mrs. Sterling Morton (3.86105)
Date: February 13 1962Creator: Godshalk, Clarence E.
Type: Document
Description:Letter from C. E. Godshalk to Mrs. Sterling Morton stating Mrs. Zurcher suggested that if there is any of Mr. Morton's photography equipment the Arboretum could use Mrs. Morton might be happy to donate it to the Arboretum. Therefore, Godshalk asks if Mrs. Morton would be willing to send the Arboretum Morton's Contaflex camera which would be used in the new photography room. Due to winter weather, the Arboretum has not been able to start on the new houses or library. Building the new library will start as soon as the snow is gone. He is grateful to Mrs. Morton for the library.

1962/04/17: C. E. Godshalk to Myrtle Shaughnessy (3.85888)
Date: April 17 1962Creator: Godshalk, Clarence E.
Type: Document
Description:Letter from C. E. Godshalk to Myrtle (Mrs. Howard) Shaughnessy stating he hasn't contacted her about the memorial tree because the new board chairman, Mrs. Zurcher, feels the Arboretum should not accept memorial trees due to the necessity of continuing maintenance. He suggests that instead of a memorial tree, Mrs. Mulloy's friends may choose to contribute to a memorial book fund for the purchase of rare books for the library. Books purchased from this fund will be marked so they may be identified. The new library will be opened and dedicated on Arbor Day the next spring. Since talking to Mrs. Shaughnessy, Godshalk and a friend bought 35 acres in Michigan.
