Date: November 7 1960Creator: Morton, Sterling
Type: Document
Description:Letter from Sterling Morton to Clarence E. Godshalk. The Morton Arboretum should tape record lectures by such an inspired teacher, as Mrs. Ortt suggests. Morton thinks they should be secretly recorded so the lecturer won't be self-conscious. These recordings should be a part of the permanent records of the Arboretum. In a recent visit to the Arboretum, Morton noticed that one of the gate posts was placed on the wrong side. He talked with Holabird and Root and that will be corrected. He appreciates Godshalk's reports for the next Board meeting. "Returning the courtesy," Morton shares the reports he will make at the meeting. In a handwritten note along the side of the letter, Morton suggests that Godshalk include in his report the numbers of visitors, members, groups, etc.
