Description:Erythronium albidum (white trout lily, white dogtooth violet, prairie trout lily, white fawn lily) is an Illinois wildflower that is only four to six inches tall. They have a pair of light green basal leaves that are mottled in grayish green or brown spots. The underside of the leaf is pale to medium green. The leaves are narrow (lanceolate) but can be more rounded or elliptical. Each flower has six white petal-like structures called tepals that are reflexed backwards with bright yellow stamens protruding from the center. Each plant has only two leaves and one flower on a hairless stalk.
