Letter from E. L. Kammerer in response to Homer Crumrine's letter inquiring about Pin Oak (Quercus palustris) that had failed to sprout. Mr. Kammerer says insect larvae in the acorns often ruin them by planting time. He recommends in the future to put acorns in a hot water bath to kill any insect larvae before planting.
