Parthenocissus tricuspidata (Sieb. & Zucc.) Planch. (Boston-ivy), is similar to P. quinquefolia in all respects except the foliage is usually more lustrous, the leaf is simple and 3-lobed and is possibly not as hardy, it has excellent appearance and can be used in the same applications as P. quinquefolia, flowers are yellow-green1/8" diameter deflexed petaled occurring in terminal thyrsoid panicles, fruit is flattened-globose 0.25-0.33" long bloomy dull dark blue with 1-2 seeds, several nice cultivars are available along with the popular 'Atropurpurea' noted for its vigorous green tinged bluish turning purple leaves, new spring growth and fall color are red
