Description:Letter from C. E. Godshalk to Joy Morton telling him of the effect on work of the recent blizzard at the Arboretum. Their Chicago Garden Show entry includes forced early flowering shrubs that are a part of an exhibit showing a future path entrance into the Arboretum. The exhibit is meant to show the natural effect of the Arboretum and will include a rail fence, red cedars, the flowering shrubs, and a large hawthorne. They will have a bulletin board which will display an Arboretum map and various Arboretum bulletins along with subscription blanks for the bulletins. Due to the snow, nothing is being done on the roads except the Odgen Avenue overhead bridge. He is glad they are both having such a nice trip and looks forward to seeing them back at Thornhill.

As long as the weather remains cold, he can manage with a crew of 12 men. They expect to soon begin cutting the ice on Lake Marmo which is seven inches thick. He asks Morton if he has any objection to Godshalk taking his family on their usual holiday vacation.
The attached letter (dated 12/12/1932) says the area of the satin moth quarantine in Maine has been extended to include the nursery of the Oxford Paper Company, so they will probably not be able to ship the cuttings this year.

Emil is helping with the floors at the house. Fred Berg went to the hospital yesterday; nothing will be done except to make Berg comfortable until his doctor has recovered from an illness in a few days. Mary Alice and Jimmie are having a great time playing outside. He is enclosing some photos of the last snow storm. Everyone is anxious for Morton's return.
