Date: April 1 1958Creator: Kammerer, E. Lowell
Type: Document
Description:Letter from E. L. Kammerer answering Rod Searles' questions about Japanese Maples and plants in the Morton Arboretum's collection. Mr. Kammerer writes that the Arboretum's collection of Japanese Maples is limited due to climate, though they have several good sized Acer palmatum atropurpureum, and smaller A. atropurpureum dissectum and A. atropurpureum novum along with immature [Acer palmatum] "Bloodgood," "Burgundy Lace," and "OchiBeni" [Oshio-beni]. Mr. Kammerer also writes that the Arboretum has a small Acer griseum, a fine large specimen of Pinus excelsa (Griffithi) [Wallichiana], two medium size and several small Pinus bungeana, and two small P. densiflora oculus draconis. he notes that they have no specimens of Pinus excelsa var. Zebrina or Pinus thunbergii, and that their Ulnus glabra Camperdownii is not grafted to resistant stock to his knowledge.
